Description
On 20 November 1974, the poet and writer Massimo Ferretti died in Rome. He was born only 39 years earlier in Chiaravalle and had moved to Jesi with his family in 1951: a dazzling and luminous literary meteor, who still represents one of the most fascinating and singular poetic voices of the Italian 20th century.
Marked by illness and a ‘desperate vitality’, his writing - at once classical and experimental, realistic and visionary - succeeded in gaining the attention and esteem of Pier Paolo Pasolini, who defined his work as ‘of overbearing originality’.
On the occasion of the 50th anniversary of Massimo Ferretti's death, the Cultural Circle of Jesi named after him is organising a series of initiatives that will unfold between the towns of Jesi and Chiaravalle.
The Betto Tesei Exhibition Halls of Palazzo Pianetti Civic Museums will host part of a widespread photographic exhibition that will also involve Palazzo Santoni and the Sant'Agostino Cloister. The exhibition, entitled ‘ALLERGY! 1974-2024. Massimo Ferretti, a discordant poet', will be inaugurated on Wednesday 20 November at 5.30 p.m. at the Betto Tesei Exhibition Halls and will be open to the public with free admission from Thursday 21 to Sunday 24 November at the Betto Tesei Exhibition Halls, Palazzo Santoni and the Sant'Agostino Cloister (10 a.m. - 1 p.m. and 4 p.m. - 7 p.m.).
Also as part of the initiatives in memory of Massimo Ferretti, on Friday 22 November, at 9.15 p.m., the Sala Maggiore of Palazzo della Signoria will host LA BALLATA INTERROTTA DI MASSIMO FERRETTI, an event with free admission by and with Max Cimatti.
Attached is the complete programme, also including initiatives in the town of Chiaravalle.
